Anti-static additive for conductive melamine resin with maintained durability and color

TUBALL™ graphene nanotubes are a high-performance anti-static agent for melamine systems that avoids the frequently faced side-effects of standard conductive filler on durability and color of the final product.

Anti-static agents: traditional vs TUBALL™

Note. This diagram provides average trends compared with other additives based on OCSiAl data. Product performance may vary depending on product type and formulation.

Thanks to their unique properties, graphene nanotubes (SWCNT) create a conductive, flexible, strong skeleton inside thermoset resins at extremely low concentration in comparison with most standard ESD additives.

For easy adaptation to a standard manufacturing process, OCSiAl has developed the TUBALL™ MATRIX line of industry-friendly concentrates. The ultra-low working loading – starting from 0.1% in the overall compound weight – has a minimal effect on other key properties and results in the cost-efficiency of this anti-static solution.

Results for optimized formulation based on OCSiAl data.

The most important characteristics of nanotube concentrates for use as an anti-static masterbatch in melamine formulations are:

  • Extremely low loading is required to get a full range of conductivity
  • Stable conductive properties throughout the service life
  • Simple adaptation of existing production processes thanks to a user-friendly concentrate form
  • No negative influence on the original color and durability of the end product
